fred bear bows
What is your opinion of the now deceased bow hunter Fred Bear?

I am impressed by his museum section at Bass Pro, and I’m reading a book about him.

As a kid I worshipped him, he was a frequent contributor to Field and Stream and was instrumental in getting archery into the hunting world. He set many first in archery and was a true pioneer of the sport in every sense of the word. He caught a lot of flack from gun hunters becuase they felt that hunting with bow and arrow was inhumane and should be outlawed. My very first “real” bow was a 40lb recurve made by his company. Got many a rabbit with it as a kid, but didn’t use it for deer.
