Getting ready for archery bow hunting season can be a seemingly never ending task. There are so many thin gs you
think you should have and so many items you never think of until it is too late. With a few years under my belt and a little bit of gray hair later, I wanted to give you my recommended items for your Archery Bow hunting preparation and entrance into the field.
Practice Time Necessities
- new bow string for the season
- stabilizer
- range finder
- The BLOCK target stop
- 3D target of the game you intend to hunt
- bow string wax
- good set of allen fold-able pocket wrenches
- hip quiver
- masking tape (good for putting on the Block and shooting at a horizontal and vertical line) – helps dial in the bow
- non-twisting peep sight
- install a new release loop if using a release
- new finger tabs if you are old school – gotta break them in before the archery bow hunting season
- hunting head cover and or mask you are going to use in the field
- hunting gloves you are going to use in the field
- the practice version on the heads you will be shooting game with
- extra vanes/fletchings
- extra fletching glue
- fletching tools
- fletching jig
- arrow saw
- extra nocks
- nocking pliers
- extra inserts
- insert tool
- extra arrows
- bow level
- bow press – only if you have a clue of what it is
- scent removing detergent, dryer sheets, shampoo, deodorant and field spray
- scentlok bag or similar
- game cameras
- tree stand & safety harness
Game on Necessities
- bow and or gear holder when you are in the tree
- binoculars
- rubber boots
- scentlok or similar clothing
- extra finger tabs or release
- soft or hard travel case
- lumenocks or similar
- field spray for removing sweat and excitement scent of your body
- sharp hunting knife
- gut hook
- butt out tool
- hide pliers are great
- bio-hazard/surgical/rubber type gloves for dressing game
- rope and gambrel
- trash bags and large 5-15 gallon bucket
- digital camera
- grunt calls
- rattlin’ bag
- estrous scent or dominate buck scent
- flash light – the green light works really well for tracking blood sign
