What a good range of an archer beginning?

I am interested in collecting archery as a leisure or recreation. Does anyone have experienced a recommendation on the specifications of the I look for in my bow in the first place? I do not want to invest in a compound bow yet, but I was looking for recurve bows. I 5'8 "and right. What kind of arc length and to draw weight should I start?"
