I am buying my first bow, what kind should I get?

I am 37 yrs old and 6’3″. I know nothing about what type of bow to get. There is a Cabella’s, Bass Pro Shop and Dick’s sports close to me. I will use this bow for lots of practice and eventual hunting deer, turkey and possibly much larger game. I have become addicted to the Outdoor Channel watching big game bow hunting and mess around with my neighbors bow in the backyard. I want to begin seriously learning and hunting soon. I assume there are bows that will work for all sizes of game. I dont know what brand, style or anything else to get. I know I could spend a ton on a state of the art bow. I want to get a nice bow that can do it all but at the most reasonable price so, I dont want to get the best, most expensive bow. Something reasonable. Thanks in advance for the advice.

what would make a good first gun?

I’ve done some research and decided a lever action would be best for my budget. (around $600) I’m 15 and recoil doesn’t matter and I’ve been hunting with my dads 30-30 and my bow. I saw the 45-70 in one of my hunting mags. and thought it would soot me well for hunting Big Game in New England. Any suggestions on what i should get or another caliber that would soot my needs.

You don’t really need that rifle unless you are in a State that has a game farm or allows moose hunting and some Larger bears. A good 30-06 should handle most of your needs or even a 30-30 if you are in heavy brush. A 45-70 is going to kick like two 30-30′s side by side…..If by chance you are hunting a big Moose or Bear a .338 or .375 may work well. The .45-70 is a short range brush gun and does not have the penetration needed for big game at med to longer ranges.
