bow hunting sights
whats a good setup for hunting firearm and bow? and any tips on what i need to know?
i’m going to start hunting as i way to get out of house i am 15 i can pull a 50pound draw weight compound bow, i also want a good firearm to use back up and primary i know you cant use a bow and a rifle so best to have both on any occasion money not an issue i am most likey going to be hunting in north californa , and yeah if people giving some tips too please like how to look down sights of a bow and how to adjust scope…. i have been looking in to firearms and i like the springfield M1-A and a glock as the firearms but i dont know? HELP????????!!!!

A .30-30 is plenty for most anything you’re going to hunt in Northern California. So is any 50-lb draw bow, whether compound or not. (and compounds are EASY – with that let-off you HOLD a small percentage of the actual draw-weight at full draw…) Scopes? Not needed, unless you just can’t — or won’t — get within 80 yards of the target. Here are the details of what you can use, when you can use them and where you can use them in California:

Some very easy to find information from that website:
Handguns are allowed for hunting certain big game animals in California — but only when using “centerfire cartridges with softnose or expanding projectiles”. And, from Section 354 (archery Equipment and Crossbow Regulations): “(h) Except as provided in subsection 353(g), archers may not possess a firearm while hunting in the field during any archery season, or while hunting during a general season under the provisions of an archery only tag.”
That means no firearms allowed while bowhunting, unless you happen to be using a muzzle-loader and possess a muzzleloader/archery license. –Section 353 “(g) Under the provisions of a muzzleloading rifle/archery tag, hunters may only possess muzzleloading rifles with sights as described in subsection 353(f); archery equipment as described in Section 354; or both. For purposes of this subsection, archery equipment does not include crossbows, except as provided in subsection 354(j)”.
But since “money is not an issue”, why not get some professional instruction in how to properly use a bow and/or rifle? Plenty of certified firearms and archery instructors always need extra money….
